International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea (COLREGS)

RULE TEXT

A power-driven vessel when towing shall exhibit: forward masthead lights (two in a vertical line, or three if tow > 200m); sidelights; a sternlight; a towing light above the sternlight. A vessel being towed shall exhibit sidelights and a sternlight. When the length of the tow exceeds 200 metres, a diamond shape shall be exhibited where it can best be seen by both vessels.
